Importing a Stack

Importing a stack can be very useful when you already have notecards in a different format on your computer. Right now you may important from either a Comma Separated Values (csv) file or from a plain text file.

The csv file must be made up of two columns where the left column is the front of the card and right column is the back of the card. You can export to a csv file from any popular spreadsheet program.

To import a file simply select the toolbar item or select if from the file menu and browse for the file

Cards can also be made by importing them from a plain text file. In this case each side of the card is separated by a new line. Therefore the front of each card will be every other line in the file and the back of each card will be the lines in between those.

Exporting a Stack

Exporting a Stack can be very useful for backing up your data in a format that almost any program can open, and also to share cards with others more easily.

Right now Notecards Desktop can only export to csv files. To export a stack select it from the list and then select "Export Stack" from the tool bar or from the "File" menu.
